Where the MXD fits
The MXD is a diaphragm dosing pump family for measured chemical addition. For an African irrigation project, selection begins with the actual injection flow, operating pressure, liquid properties and power supply—not the farm area alone.
Discuss centre pivot, lateral, drip and micro-irrigation requirements with I-Feeder. A pump setting controls delivery; maintaining concentration as irrigation flow varies requires a suitable control arrangement.
Configure the liquid end
The catalogue identifies PTFE and EPDM diaphragm drive options and a model-code structure covering the liquid end, number of heads, connection and drive dimensions. Chemical compatibility must be confirmed for the complete assembly, including seals and valves.
The catalogue also lists additional gearbox modules, up to four. Their configuration codes and weights differ from complete single-head units; use the source table and quotation to specify them.
What to send for final selection
- Fertilizer or chemical identity, concentration, temperature, viscosity and specific gravity.
- Required minimum and maximum delivery, injection duration and discharge pressure.
- Suction arrangement, pipework, tank position and mixing method.
- Electrical supply and frequency, controls and site conditions.
- For service: the model code, serial number, part reference and clear photographs.
Use the I-Feeder Calculator for preliminary sizing. Read the fertigation sizing guide for a worked example.
Installation and service documents
MXD dosing pump manual · MXD/VXD parts lists and technical library · Installation accessories
Calibrate actual delivery under operating conditions. Confirm filtration, pressure protection, backflow protection and the installation components appropriate to the duty.
Do the 50 Hz and 60 Hz ratings mean the pump is interchangeable?
No. Confirm the actual drive, electrical supply and complete model configuration. Do not select a pump from a capacity figure without checking its frequency and pressure rating.
Is the same liquid end suitable for every fertilizer?
No. The chemical and operating conditions determine the compatible diaphragm, seals, valves and other wetted materials.
